This is our story, so far…

A few years ago it was a thought. A feeling. A desire at best. Call it what you want, but we [Michael and Mindy Baier] had a sense that God wanted to use us to start a life-giving church in the heart of Memphis. Didn't know how. Didn't ever intend on being "church planters", but when we looked at what we saw in the city of Memphis we knew a few things... "We love Memphis." "We feel called to leverage our lives make a difference in Memphis." "We have no idea how." "Somebody's gotta do something, so it might as well be us."

After taking time to pray, process, and prepare personally, we sensed that 2015 was going to be a special year. That this might be the year we get started in Memphis. We just didn't know how, but God did.

God graciously enabled us to connect with people, build a team, acquire the resources needed, and launch BELIEVING CHURCH on February 8, 2015 with 306 people in attendance and 39 of those putting their faith in Jesus Christ. 

After several years of meeting portably, God opened an amazing door for a permanent home for BELIEVING. A space to plant our flag and leverage as a resource for the good of our city, right on Summer Avenue. Even though a global pandemic turned the world upside down right as we were stepping into this home, God has been faithful and allowed us to leverage the space to advance His mission, so that all people are transformed in Christ.

Our story continues to develop every single day as we work to believe in people to help them believe God. We believe the message of Jesus ought to be communicated passionately, creatively and tangibly. So no matter who you are and no matter where you're from, we believe in you. From helping a kid to learn about Jesus on their level to feeding hungry people, from creating worship experience that express the grace of God to connecting people with other people so that we all grow... we're simply trying to help people believe God because believing changes everything.
